OMAHA
- Bellevue East recorded an 8-0 win over the WESTCO Zephyrs
senior
legion baseball team on Tuesday in Omaha to complete a sweep
of
the brief, two-game series between the clubs.
The
Zephyrs, who dropped their fifth straight game, could only muster
four
hits in the contest.
"We
struggled offensively when we had a couple chances to do
something
with runners on base," Zephyrs coach Mark Moran said. "It
was
a little disappointing that we couldn't get some hits in those
situations."
Bellevue
East scored two runs in the first, four in the second and
two
more in the fourth.
Offensively
for the Zephyrs, Jackson Pahlke led the way by going
2-for-3
with two singles. Michael Hoppes finished with a double and
Joe
Huck added a single.
Hoppes
took the loss on the mound. He allowed eight runs on six hits
and
struck out eight in four innings of work.
Bellevue
East outscored the Zephyrs by a combined score of 17-1 in
the
two games.
The
Zephyrs will be back in action today at Sidney. Moran said Chase
Wickard
is scheduled to get the start on the mound.
